Volunteering at Alquería de los Lentos

ree

Living with the rhythm of the earth, among olive trees and silence

In the heart of the Lecrín Valley, just half an hour from Granada and an hour from the Mediterranean Sea, lies Alquería de los Lentos — an ancient Andalusian mill surrounded by olive and citrus trees, fragrant herbs, and the gentle murmur of mountain water.

From time to time, we welcome volunteers through WWOOF Spain — open-hearted people who love nature, enjoy hands-on work, and want to experience life in a slower rhythm. Those who come here don’t just come to work — they come to learn, to breathe, to reconnect.

What we offer

In exchange for 20 hours of help per week (about 4 hours a day, 5 days a week), we offer:

  • A private room in our guesthouse or volunteer accommodation

  • A peaceful and inspiring environment overlooking the Sierra Nevada

  • A warm, international atmosphere — we speak Spanish, English, and Dutch

  • Access to a shared kitchen and common areas

  • Time and space to enjoy nature and simplicity

Meals are not included. You can cook for yourself with local products or eat in the nearby village of Nigüelas, where you’ll find a small supermarket, bakery, and traditional tapas bars.

What you’ll be helping with

The work depends on the season and your skills, and may include:

  • Tasks in the organic garden such as planting, harvesting, irrigation, and maintenance

  • Small repairs or creative projects around the property

  • Helping with hotel maintenance and shared spaces

  • Occasional artistic or eco-friendly projects such as woodwork, painting, or garden design

We appreciate independent people with a practical spirit, a sense of beauty, and respect for nature and silence.

A day in Alquería de los Lentos

Mornings begin with the soft mountain light and the scent of rosemary. After your work hours, there’s time to swim, walk, read, write, or simply rest. In the evenings, music sometimes drifts through the garden — or silence becomes the language of peace.

Why volunteer with us?

Because here, time stretches. Work becomes meditation. And “slow living” stops being a luxury — it becomes a way of being.
